SAWS Promotes Andrea Huizar Beymer To Director Of Operations

SAN ANTONIO–( BUSINESS WIRE )–San Antonio Water System announces the promotion of Andrea Huizar Beymer to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. 

In this role, Beymer will be responsible for overseeing all company operations, in particular Construction and Engineering, Production and Treatment, as well as Distribution and Collection. Throughout her career at SAWS, Beymer has built a track record of excellence and SAWS is honored to recognize her.

After receiving her license as a professional engineer in the state of Texas, Beymer began her career with SAWS as a graduate engineer in 1997, where she served in the Recycled Water Program and has dedicated more than 25 years to SAWS.

“Andrea has contributed greatly to every water project that has transformed SAWS since its inception,” explained SAWS President and CEO Robert R. Puente. “From the Aquifer Storage and Recovery Project and the Carrizo Regional Water Supply Project to the revolutionary Vista Ridge Pipeline, which guaranteed San Antonio’s water supply for the next 60 years, we see the extraordinary contribution of their experience and dedication in each project.

Beymer was promoted to executive management analyst in the Office of the President and CEO in 2009. In that role, she provided technical advice to Puente regarding SAWS’s core operations and engineering functions. In 2016, Beymer was promoted to director of plant and major project engineering, and was later promoted to executive vice president of Engineering and Construction in 2017. She has led efforts to integrate new water projects into the SAWS distribution system, as well as oversee a Capital Improvement Plan valued at more than $2.5 billion.

Beymer grew up in San Antonio and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has dedicated her career to the future of water availability and is paving the way for minority women in a male-dominated profession.
